Description

Challenge coins are a unique and storied tradition within the military, symbolizing camaraderie, achievement, and unit pride. The U.S. Army Challenge Coins are particularly special, often bearing the insignia or emblem of a specific unit, command, or significant event. These coins serve not just as collectibles but as tokens of identity and membership within the Army community. They are typically circular, but can also come in various shapes, each meticulously designed to represent the distinct values and history of the issuing body. The tradition of challenge coins can be traced back to ancient times, but they gained modern significance during World War I. An American pilot was saved from execution by his challenge coin, which proved his identity to allied forces. Today, these coins are cherished within the military, with many soldiers and veterans holding them as a mark of honor and a reminder of their service. This Army Challenge Coin is 1.5 diameter or 38mm.
